HIAB Crane Truck Hire — Heavy Freight Pickup & Delivery
A HIAB is a truck fitted with a hydraulic crane, so it can load and unload heavy freight without needing a forklift or crane on site. If your goods are too heavy to lift by hand and there's no equipment at pickup or delivery, a HIAB is what you need.
When You Need a HIAB
You'd book a HIAB when you're delivering to a construction site that doesn't have a crane or forklift, picking up or dropping off steel, concrete panels, timber packs, or precast products, moving machinery or equipment that's too heavy for a tail lift, delivering to a location with limited access where a crane can reach over fences or obstacles, or unloading palletised goods where there's no loading dock.
The crane is operated by the driver, so there's no need to organise separate lifting equipment or labour at either end.
What a HIAB Can Carry
Steel beams and structural steel, concrete panels and precast products, timber packs, building materials, machinery and industrial equipment, palletised goods, shipping containers (depending on size and weight).
The truck carries up to 10 tonnes of freight. The crane lifts up to 2 tonnes at short reach, tapering to around 500kg at full extension — so heavier items need to be positioned close to the truck.
Point-to-point or hourly hire
HIAB trucks are available on point-to-point or hourly hire. Choose point-to-point for a straightforward A-to-B run, or hourly hire when you've got multiple stops, site time or an open-ended job. Get an instant quote and we'll price the best option.
